| While these sonar scans of Harbor of Refuge don't mean
much to the average lighthouse lover, they'll make a significant
contribution to our ability to stem the tide of damage to the breakwater
wall.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began work in March and expects to
have a plan for repairs in place later this spring.
The Foundation has asked Congress to appropriate money during the
2009 Federal budget cycle to fix the worst of the damage to the wall.
The deteriorating 100+-year-old breakwater is owned by the
Federal Government. |
